Our story
Built by members, for members
Wakarimu Sacco was established in 1989 in Nakuru, Kenya, with the aim of promoting a culture of saving and providing affordable credit to its members. Over more than three decades the Sacco has grown into a trusted financial institution, expanding its services across the Rift Valley while remaining committed to improving the financial well-being of its members and their communities.
We are a co-operative, not a bank. Every member owns a share of the society, elects its leadership and shares in its surplus. That structure is why our credit stays affordable and why decisions are made close to the people they affect.

Governance
One member, one vote
Wakarimu is governed by its members through an elected board, a supervisory committee and a credit committee. The Annual General Meeting approves the audited accounts, sets the dividend and elects the leadership.
