Savings that build dividends and borrowing power

Your deposits do two jobs at Wakarimu: they earn a return each year, and they set the amount you are entitled to borrow.

Savings products

Three ways to save with us

  • Share Capital

Your ownership stake in the Sacco.

Every member buys a minimum of 500 shares at KES 20 each — a total of KES 10,000. Shares are not withdrawable while you remain a member, and they earn a dividend each year at a rate determined by the Sacco's performance and approved at the AGM.

    • Minimum 500 shares at KES 20 each
    • Minimum share capital of KES 10,000
    • Earns an annual dividend approved at the AGM
    • Represents your ownership and your vote
  • Monthly Deposits

The savings that determine what you can borrow.

The minimum monthly contribution is KES 1,000, plus a KES 50 insurance premium. Your accumulated deposits are the basis of your loan entitlement — most loans are granted up to three times your deposits.

    • Minimum KES 1,000 per month
    • KES 50 monthly insurance premium
    • Higher minimums apply while servicing a loan
    • Directly determines your loan entitlement
  • Boosted Deposits

Top up beyond your regular contribution.

You may deposit more than your regular monthly contribution at any time. Note that amounts boosted outside the regular contribution are considered for loan eligibility only after six months.

    • Top up any time, above the minimum
    • Counts towards eligibility after six months
    • Grows both your dividends and your borrowing power
